February 8, 2010 - Day 182

Acrylic on 250lb Bockingford watercolor paper

Today is the half way point in my 365 days of ACEOs. I would have liked to have completed a better painting than what I ended up achieving. This house had such wonderful moldings and personality to it but I just couldn't do it justice today.

I am going to be so happy when I am done this blog. It is a lot of work completing a painting EVERY day but it has also really helped me to grow as an artist.

I really liked this doorway with the pale yellow siding and the white and red awning. It looked so cheerful.

February 6, 2010 - Day 180

After yesterday's success I thought that today's painting would be a breeze but I had problems creating the depth and contrast that I wanted.

My mind isn't in the game today though. I worked an early morning shift and then tonight decided to re-arrange the living room BEFORE I started my painting. Note to self: complete painting of day before starting major household projects!

Only 2 more days and I will have reached the half way point of my 365 days of ACEOs. I can't believe that I have been doing this for every day for half a year. Whooooooyaaaaaah!

February 5, 2010 - Day 179

Acrylic on 250lb Bockingford watercolor paper

The start of a new series tonight on "Entrances". As I was walking through my neighbourhood the other day I noticed that some of the entrances to the homes really caught my eye. Some had bright colors and others had interesting items placed near the door. It occurred to me that these entrances seemed very inviting and seemed to say something about the owners of the home.

This is one of the doors that caught my eye. I think what I like about it is that everything around the door is grayscale except for the green door mat and the plant. It's almost like a black and white photo which has a few items hand colored. I really liked it. To me it says that the owner's of the home are simple no-frill type of people who are down to earth.

February 4, 2010 - Day 178

As I was taking the reference photos for my make-up series I happened to get my bathroom tap into the picture. The chrome looked so cool that I decided that I had to paint it.

February 3, 2010 - Day 177

Acrylic on 250lb Bockingford watercolor paper

This is the last painting in my "make-up" series.

I have to admit that the last couple days I have started to develop a "I don't care anymore" attitude towards my paintings. I know tonight's painting could have been better but I just don't care. I spent most of the night just watching TV and basically I don't have the motivation to create my best work right now.

Part of that lack of motivation has to do with the fact that I haven't sold any paintings in over a month and a half. I have some paintings for sale that I put a lot of effort into and that I am very very proud of but they aren't selling even at ridiculously low prices that I am offering them for. What's the point of pouring my heart and my energy into my paintings when I can't even sell one? What's the point?

God, I am so burnt out from this project and I haven't even hit the half way mark yet!

February 2, 2010 - Day 176

This subject was more difficult than I anticipated. It is an eyelash curler and while I think I did a pretty accurate rendering of the subject I don't think anybody will recognize it for what it is.
